Weekend Adventures

Isn't it awesome how, as long as you're hanging with your best friend, it doesn't matter what you're doing because you always manage to have a good time? That's pretty much the story of my life, especially this weekend.

Saturday started out pretty normal, Teetz and Shelley and I went to the Huskers/Bama baseball game (we swept the series, woohoo, Go 'Skers!). After that Teetz and I decided to go to Wal-Mart so I could get my gossip magazines for the week, and for him to buy 'Walk the Line' which we were planning on watching that evening. In addition, we also had to go to Sprint because Teetz was thinking about switching over from Cingular. At this point I was completely fed up with Alltel. I had CellularOne, and never had a problem with the service at all, but for the last couple months since Alltel bought out CellOne, the service has gotten crappier and crappier. Saturday was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back however, because I sent myself a text from Teetz's phone to make sure I was actually getting my texts - sure enough, it has yet to arrive. And on Friday Drake called me, but the phone never rang, all the sudden my phone just beeped at me saying I had a voicemail, when he had just called a minute before. I called Alltel after the game to find out what the cancellation fee would be and it is $200, which I think is a small price to pay to get rid of crappy service because ALLTEL BLOWS!!! I told the woman that I was switching because Alltel has not been good at all and she's like, But you only have until June 19th so finally I just came out and said, Look, Alltel sucks and I am already unhappy with the service so there is no way I am staying with it. She quit trying to convince me at that point. When we went into Sprint I decided then and there to get a new phone and cancel my service with Alltel. I got a way awesome new phone and a new plan and I am so happy. Of course, Alltel tried to ruin that too because when I was setting up my new phone I had to get my account number, but Alltel had taken down the CellularOne website before allowing CellOne members to register on the Alltel website, thus I could not actually get my account number. For the second time on Saturday I had to call and speak to crappy stupid Alltel reps who don't know shit about anything. I asked for my account number because I was switching to service that actually worked and the guy said that the account numbers hadn't been switched yet so technically I didn't have one. I told him that Alltel was horrible and that's why I was switching to begin with and hung up. I probably wouldn't have hung up on the guy if he hadn't been so snooty, but lord I hate Alltel. Well, Alltel put a hold on my number and wouldn't release it to Sprint, which is against the law but finally today, my new phone is working and it is so hott. Teetz also got as new phone and we are way awesome and now we're Sprint buddies, and I love being able to have real rings and an alarm and everything that the old crappy phone didn't have.

After the Sprint store (which we were actually at for about two hours) we grabbed some dinner at Taco Bell and visited Kayleen at work, where I got a way cool blue coat on sale, because I realized I didn't have any blue Spring coats and I definitely need one. It is so pretty.

The rest of the evening was slightly more sad, just because of what we were actually doing. See, about a week ago my baby turtle Wendall, died. I wanted to bury him properly, but I didn't want to bury him around here because this place is lame and I would feel like I am abandoning him here, so I tucked him away in a shoe box with some of his rocks, the little Tiki man that was in his tank, and this little skull and crossbones statue that was also in his tank, that I'd bought for him because Drake has a skull and crossbones tattoo on his chest. I put all that in the shoebox for Wendall and taped up the box. So, Saturday night we go out to a nearby park and are going to bury Wendall, because I wanted him to be near water, and wouldn't you know our luck: about eight inches down we hit a cement slab, and then a bunch of random teenagers showed up at the park. We didn't know what to do for a while so we just filled in the hole and stood there because the people could kind of see us, and we thought about digging a new hole, but then Teetz had the idea that maybe we should just put Wendall in the water, since he is a turtle and all. However, we would need an anchor in order for him to sink, so we left the park with our trowel and shoebox and went to Wal-Mart, but of course they didn't have just individual cement blocks since that would make our night much easier. Instead we found a pretty heavy rectangular flower pot that wasn't too expensive so we bought that and some rope and drove back to the park - only to find that a ton more people had showed up. Wendall would have to wait one more day for his burial at sea.

Last night we tried again. Of course last night had to be freezing cold to the point that we had to take turns tying the rope to the box and the flower pot because our hands were so cold. When we had the shoebox securely attached to the flower pot we went out onto the dock and I said my goodbyes and then I put him very gently into the water, expecting the shoebox to slowly sink into the water. Unfortunately God had other plans, and Teetz and I both watched in disbelief as the shoebox gently bobbed up and down in the water. After everything, apparently Wendall just wasn't quite ready to go. The shoebox just kind of floated along for a little while and I tried to push it down into the water but it just popped right back up. I guess I put too much tape around it and kind of made the box waterproof. Teetz said the water would get in eventually and it would sink. Then I had this horrible vision of a scene from 'Titanic' where the third class passengers were trapped below deck and the old couple was laying on their bed just holding hands as the water was rising up and then I felt really bad about putting him in the water, but he is a turtle after all and I am sure he is much happier now that he is back in the water as opposed to being in a dry old shoebox. I miss him a lot.

So yeah, that's my weekend adventures with Teetz.

I signed my new lease today, woohoo! I get to start moving in at the end of April and I am stoked. Dishes will be washed regularly, and there won't be other peoples' disgusting hair in the drain all the time for me to clean out, thank goodness. My bathroom will be clean, my floor and cupboards will be clean, and my apartment will be fun and girly, woohoo.

Adam left Iraq today!!!! Three more days and I will get to see him!! In case you can't tell, I am very happy about this. Silas and I talked a little more last night about our evil plan to make Ashley flip out so Adam can see firsthand how crazy she is and dump her, so we can find him a girl who is not insane. My part of the brilliant plan is, when Teetz and I get to Omaha, have Adam come with Silas to meet us at the bar (I don't know how to get to Mike's new house so Silas said he'd meet me at the nearby gas station/bar and I could follow him to Mike's, I am just that bad with directions.) My idea was this: Silas should say he is going somewhere really quick and needs Adam to go with him. Ashley will be all clingy and be like, oh where are you going, blah blah, and they won't say, but when they come back a few minutes later, voila, I will be with them! Silas and I think it is a good idea, so we will see what happens.

That's about all for now, not much else going on. Drake is still home of course, and he is not going to be back for six more days, so that makes me mopey, because I miss him a whole lot. I wish I would have been able to go home with him for a couple days, but my work schedule didn't allow for that. Oh well, at least he will be back in six days and counting. Yay :)
